Job Analysis Study of the Role of Vocational Evaluator

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the role and function of vocational evaluator for people with disabilities, establishing a standardized evaluation work model applicable to vocational rehabilitation settings. The professional research group was organized, and a modified USES job analysis technique, developed by U.S. Employment Service, was utilized. to fulfill the purpose of the study. As the result of the study, vocational evaluator for people with disabilities was defined as follows: one who performs a series of professional work, including data collection, analysis, and coordination of clients¡¯ medical, psychological, social, educational, and vocational information, by utilizing the various evaluation tools, which are to provide necessary information to individuals with disabilities, care-givers, and rehabilitation professionals in the rehabilitation process. The evaluation phase was proposed as follows: evaluation-based interview, evaluation plan, initiation of evaluation, submission of evaluation report, and final counseling, consisting of a total of 19 work specialities across the phase. At least 4 years of college education and 1 or 2 years of practices were proposed, along with required professional knowledge and skill areas. The outcome of the study could be used to measure the effectiveness of evaluation services, as well as for curriculum development for those work groups. The implications and the roles and functions of the vocational evaluator were further discussed.
